Something Old

Kalero Vineyard is a beautiful 130-acre farm nestled on Short Hill Mountain in Western Loudoun County. The property was bought in 2015 with the ambitious intention of starting a vineyard, making wine and opening a tasting room for the public to enjoy.

The farm was home to an old barn that still had great bones, but had been neglected for ages. The former owners, the Potts Family, shared that a cornerstone on the barn has the year 1834 carved into it with the initials of their ancestors – AC (Andrew Copeland) and JP (John Price). This barn managed to survive the infamous burning raids of Loudoun County during the Civil War.

Something New…

In 2016, the new owners embarked upon an extensive renovation project to save the barn and turn it into a tasting room that could also hold events. The mission was to preserve the barns integrity and keep as much of the original structure as possible. The magnificent stonework and large timber beams remain, as well as the antique hay fork. The new barn doors are hung with the original hardware.

The barn has a authentic copper roof, and wood reclaimed from the renovation has been lovingly repurposed throughout the structure. The renovation took over a year to complete, and on October 20, 2017 the barn had the honor of hosting its first wedding.

The barn has been fondly nicknamed Heartstone Barn in honor of a unique heart-shaped stone discovered on the property by the owner’s twin daughters.

The Venue Space

The venue offers 2,400 Square feet of climate-controlled space on the main level with three indoor restrooms. The main floor accommodates 120 people seated and up to 150 using the additional space found in the two lofts.

Guests can enjoy cocktail hour on our string-lighted flagstone patio and the covered porch overlooking the vineyard. There is room to get ready in our upstairs suite, or convert it into a quiet lounge space for guests. Live bands are welcome on our large stage, and there is a dedicated lower level catering space that offers plenty of room to prepare delicious meals.

There are many out door ceremony sites on the property that offer outstanding mountain and vineyard views – you are more than welcome to exchange vows anywhere you wish on the property.

If you are looking to host a larger outdoor event, Kalero offers plenty of beautiful open space suitable for tenting that will allow you to customize your own special vision.

The Vineyard

We currently have 14 acres planted in six varietals. Most of our grapes are sold to local Virginia wineries, but we now produce enough wine that is now available for events and tastings.

The Tasting Room

We are now open on Fridays (unless we have events) 1-7 PM and Sundays 1-5.   We have also just started doing monthly tastings open to public – check our event page for details.

The Old Stone House

The old home has been stabilized and we hope to begin renovations starting in 2024.
